Voice therapy in vocal paralysis

At the Voice and Swallowing Center of Puerto Rico (Centro de Voz y Tragado de Puerto Rico), we are committed to providing modern, efficient, and patient-centered care. For this reason, we offer voice therapy as a fundamental treatment for vocal cord paralysis.

In this video, it is explained that vocal cord paralysis occurs when one or both vocal cords do not position themselves adequately, which can cause hoarseness, affect voice quality, or even make breathing and swallowing difficult. The causes of paralysis vary, including neck surgeries, nerve injuries, viruses, or neurological conditions. Voice therapy makes a big difference in treatment. We use specific exercises to improve resonance, optimize voice production, and, when possible, compensate for lost movement. It is important to know that not all cases require surgery, and a clinical evaluation allows us to identify if therapy alone can be the most effective treatment. If you suspect vocal cord paralysis, we invite you to seek professional help.

Integrating voice therapy and a personalized approach into our processes allows us to stay at the forefront of modern medicine and continue to offer accessible and high-quality care.
