Vocal Cord Surgery
At the Puerto Rico Voice and Swallowing Center, we are committed to providing modern, efficient, and patient-centered care. Therefore, we approach the treatment of vocal cord injuries with a comprehensive strategy that prioritizes vocal longevity and function.
This video explains that vocal cord surgery is always indicated after the patient has completed voice therapy. The main reason is that most vocal cord injuries, such as nodules, polyps, scars, or cysts (mostly benign), are caused by vocal abuse.
The goal of this comprehensive approach is not just surgery, but improving the efficiency of vocal cord vibration and teaching the patient to use their voice efficiently and sustainably. Only in this way can we guarantee that the problem of hoarseness will be resolved in the long term.
Integrating voice therapy and surgery as part of a continuous process allows us to stay at the forefront of modern medicine and continue offering accessible, high-quality care.
