Upper Respiratory
At the Puerto Rico Voice and Swallowing Center, we are committed to providing modern, efficient, and patient-centered care. Therefore, our speech-language pathologists specialize in managing various upper respiratory tract conditions, improving vocal and respiratory function.
This video explains the work of speech-language pathologists in the area of ββvoice, including the management of conditions such as:
- Chronic cough (persistence of more than eight weeks).
 - Chronic throat clearing.
 - Paradoxical vocal cord movement or laryngeal dysfunction.

Based on scientific evidence, patients receive instruction in simple strategies to overcome persistent cough and constant throat clearing. Additionally, we help manage episodes of laryngeal dysfunction, where contradictory vocal cord movement prevents proper airflow. These episodes can be triggered by odors, stress, or airborne particles.
Integrating technology and specialized knowledge in the upper respiratory tract allows us to apply easy-to-use strategies to significantly improve the quality of life of our patients.
